SOMERSET Council has revealed that waste and refuse collection dates will change across the county for the festive and new years period.

This year, Christmas Day is on a Monday, with Boxing Day on a Tuesday, meaning no collections will take place on either of these days in order to give the crews a break over the bank holiday.

Instead, regardless of which day your recycling and bins normally go out, there will be new revised collection dates.

A spokesperson for Somerset Council Waste Services added: "Garden collections will be suspended from Monday, December 25 and will resume on Monday, January 8.

"If you are a subscriber to our garden waste service, leave your tree, decoration-free, next to your garden waste bin for collection – as long as it is no taller than 6ft."

The revised dates are as follows.

  • Usual collection day: Monday 25 December 2023. Revised collection day: Wednesday 27 December 2023.
