THOSE over the age of 60 in Bridgwater are in luck this November, as charity Somerset Age UK is staging some great free events in the town.

Supported by Bridgwater Town Council, the charity hopes to celebrate its 75th anniversary by bringing over 60s together to get out of the house despite the cold weather.

On Monday November 20, locals can get a look at the new Scott Cinema at Northgate Yard, with a free screening of The Great Escaper (staring Michael Caine and Glenda Jackson), exclusively for over 60s.

The screening will be followed by a free cup of tea and biscuit and a chance to chat and meet new people in the area.

An 'Early Nightclub' event will be held later in the week on Wednesday November 22, as Age UK will take over the Palace Nightclub.

The club night will take place between the hours of 6pm and 9pm, featuring music from the 60s and 70s, as well as Motown classics, and requests.

A spokesperson for Age UK Somerset said: "Anyone 60 or older will be made welcome whether they want to dance, listen and chat or just call in to peek at what’s behind the doors of the iconic Bridgwater club."

For either event there is no need to buy tickets, just turn up.
