THE curtains have descended on this year's Bridgwater Carnival, which left locals and visitors alike in high spirits.
Thousands of awe-struck carnival-goers took to the streets for the truly community-centred event, which saw the town illuminated by dozens of carts.
The official results of Bridgwater Carnival were announced with Ramblers CC being crowned as overall winners for the second time in a row with their entry 'Trawlermen'.
Other big winners included Wills CC, who took home the Tableau Cart Local class with their engaging 'Coppelius's Toy Theatre' entry.
Hillview Juvenile CC were also recognised as winners of the Juvenile Cart class.
Carnival attendees relished in the joys of witnessing the colourful spectacle.
Reacting to the event, one spectator commended the organisers, saying: "Our first visit, well done to all the volunteers who give up so much time to help put the show on."
A journey of seven hours was no barrier for an Anglesey visitor, who said: "It was absolutely amazing, enjoyed it so much.
"Thank you to the people of Bridgwater for being so hospitable and friendly.
"I will be back to see you again next year, had a wonderful time."
Fellow Bridgwater Carnival enjoyers agreed, promising to return next year.
Of course, no event is quite complete without unexpected hitches, from a trapped model owl in the Griffens CC cart to quickly dealt with cart breakdowns.
But this did very little to dampen the spirit with spectators taking the mishaps in good spirits as the club members continued to sing and dance.
Another spectator said: "It was fantastic, my first time coming, and I would definitely come again as it was well worth the drive."
Those who sadly could not make the event in person still took part through the power of the internet.
A resident who streamed the carnival said: "Couldn't make it this year, so I watched by live stream.... it was amazing".
Another added: "Fantastic evening, well done to all involved.
"Will be back next year for sure!"
Indeed, it was an evening to remember for the people of Bridgwater.
Demonstrating remarkable stamina and resilience, club members enthralled spectators with their constant singing and dancing.
Laughter, applause, and cheers collectively underpinned the beautiful and resilient spirit of Bridgwater Carnival.
With their spirits high and smiles wider, the locals and visitors already await next year's Bridgwater Carnival.
