A SOMERSET pub located just five miles southeast of Bridgwater has been named among the world's best by Tripadvisor.
The King Alfred Inn, in Burrowbridge, has been recognised as a 2023 Travellers Choice Award winner.
Only the best venues in the world are awarded with this coveted title - meaning the King Alfred Inn is ranked in the top 10% of Tripadvisor reviews across the entire planet.
As well as offering traditional pub food, the Bridgwater free house is known for sourcing its ingredients locally, including meat, vegetables, and fish.
They also stock a wide range of real ales, lagers, wines, spirits, and local Somerset cider.
Phil, chef at the King Alfred, has been working in kitchens since the age of just 13 years old.
He purchased the Bridgwater pub alongside his wife Lisa eight years ago.
Phil focuses on using the best local produce to create varied and interesting menus to suit all tastes.
Dogs are welcomed into the King Alfred Inn, and Phil emphasised this, adding: "Feel free to bring along any well behaved four legged friends."
