BRIDGWATER Swimming Club recently held its annual Long Distance Club Championships and the event was a huge success.

In the water, many swimmers broke club records and achieved personal bests in what was a great day in the pool.

Head coach Ricky Hayes said: “What amazing couple of sessions we’ve had for our annual long distance club championships. There have been some truly amazing and exceptional swims from our swimmers as well as a number of milestones achieved both by swimmers and our wonderful committee and volunteers.

"A whole host of CBTs (Championship Best Times) have been broken - many of which have been long standing.

"This years long distance champs were the first ever to be licensed, which means the times will feature on the SE ranking database and can be used for meet entries and more importantly for qualification to the Somerset county championship next season if fast enough."

Hayes added: "There was such a great, organised, relaxed yet focused atmosphere over the two sessions with swimmers showing such maturity from the oldest experienced swimmers through to our newest and youngest swimmers.

"I am so, so proud of every aspect of our long distance championship and our club in general.”
