A BRIDGWATER pub has been named as a winner of this year's Pub of the Year competition.

The Bunch Of Grapes can be found on St John Street. Complete with a beer garden, outside area, Sky Sports and BT Sport, the venue acts as the perfect place to have a couple of drinks with friends and unwind.

Readers voted for the best pubs around, and based their decisions on a pub's warm welcome, tasty products, excellent service and friendly atmosphere.

Other winners of the competition include The Ship Inn in Uphill and The King's Head in Chard.

Nominations were open until Saturday, May 6.

The company's website reads: "Welcome to The Bunch Of Grapes, your local pub based in Bridgwater. A traditional pub offering a wide variety of drinks and exciting offers. Join us to watch the live sport with a refreshing pint of your favourite larger in hand and a great atmosphere."

Tracey Cavanagh, one of the owners of The Bunch Of Grapes, said: "We are just a drinks pub, but if a customer is coming with food, we will offer the plates, knives and forks.

"We took over The Bunch Of Grapes five years ago. It was hard at first, but we put all our love into it and now we are doing our best and better.

"Future plans is to keep doing our best and keep putting all our love into it, we have darts, skittles, pool, live music, DJ, karaoke nights.

"My husband and myself are over the moon. I, for one absolutely lost for words."

It seems that the karaoke nights are especially popular amongst residents, as the pub regularly posts videos of their guests having a sing-song.

One of their upcoming events includes a poker night, which will take place on Friday, July 28. There will be three game tables leading to one final table for cash prizes.

Those that are planning on taking part are urged to get to the pub for 6.30pm, so that the night can begin promptly at 7.30pm.
