PRE-season football is well underway at Bridgwater United Football Club as the side prepare for the upcoming season.
Already, the men's team has played two matches, one friendly against Cribbs FC and a memorial match for Jason Waring against Hinkley Point C.
The first match of their pre-season was not about the result moreso paying tribute to Jason Waring, a worker at Hinkley Point who sadly passed away.
Jason was a supervisor at Bylor, working on the Hinkley Point C Project, and was much loved by both his immediate team and those who worked with him across the project.
Through this memorial match, over £8,000 was raised to give to Jason's family.
The result wasn't important in this one, the winner was football and of course the local community, paying tribute to a friend.
In the Cribbs match, the end result was 0-0, with neither side able to get the ball in the back of the net.
Not for the want of trying though as Bridgwater dominated possession but were unable to convert that into a goal.
A lot of players were used in this match to share the load of the warmer weather but also try out new tactics and formations.
Up next for Bridgwater's pre-season is a home match on Tuesday night when Hallen FC
visit Fairfax Park.
The Robins have five more friendly matches after that, all of which take place at Fairfax Park.
Fans will be gearing up for the season in the Western League, which starts sooner than you think.
The club has promised that ticket prices for children under 12 will be non-existant.
New CEO at the football club, Steve Graham said: "When the season starts one of the first things we will change is any children under the age of 12 years old, will not be charged any admission fee if they are accompanied by an adult.
"The main reason for this is when Ian was young, he couldn’t watch many games as his parents could not afford to pay his admission fee. Ian strongly believes that all Children no matter their background should be able to watch what he calls the best game ever.
"I am looking forward to working with all those involved in the club and to improve the club in every way possible”.
