BROADBAND company Jurassic Fibre faces a court bill approaching £10,000 for breaches in Bridgwater.

The company, whose address was given as Holborn, London, pleaded guilty at Taunton Magistrates' Court to breaching the New Roads and Street Works Act 1991 and the Safety at Street Works and Road Works Code of Practice 2013.

The charge related to an incident in Kendale Road, Bridgwater, on September 15 last year.

The court heard that while undertaking work there, the company failed to comply with directions given by the traffic authority in respect of the placing, maintenance of operation of traffic signs.

The company flouted the law regarding the needs of people with a disability.

Magistrates slapped a £4,000 fine on Jurassic Fibre and ordered the company to pay a victim surcharge of £1,600 and costs of £3,490.82.

The total court bill of £9,090.80 must be paid by July 14.
