A CHILDREN'S charity has visited Bridgwater & Taunton College to speak about its work supporting children with disabilities across the UK.

Keith Sinclair, the CEO of Brainwave, which is based in Bridgwater, also spoke to the college's media students about how they can use their skills to help them.

The students and tutors were keen to learn how they can gain valuable work experience, whilst also supporting Brainwave by putting their studies into practice with placements at the centre.

Mr Sinclair said: “It was a good opportunity to speak to the students in person and hear how enthusiastic they are to gain valuable workplace experience in their local community.

“It has been a tricky time for charities, and the families we support, and this could be
a win-win situation, as we can provide opportunities to gain work experience, whilst the students can help us raise awareness of what we do.

“As a charity, we support children across the UK to reach their potential through life changing multidisciplinary therapy.

“We discussed the need for us to be able to better demonstrate the vital work we do to new families, and how their creative skills could be an enormous help.”

Louise Hayward, employee relations manager at Bridgwater & Taunton College said: “We were delighted to welcome Keith from Brainwave to our college, and he really did give the students lots to think about.

“We are looking forward to working with such a fantastic charity that is right on our doorstep and I can’t wait to see the videos and photographs that our students produce at the end of their placements.”
