BRIDGWATER United Women club legend Bethany-May Howard has departed the club after over ten years of service.

The goalkeeper has been a mainstay in the first team for Bridgwater United and is quite often regarded as one of the best goalkeepers in the FA Women's National League.

So the move for her to play for Southampton in the FA Women's Championship is fitting.

Southampton confirmed the transfer on Wednesda, January 11.

Bethany-May Howard said on social media: "From joining the club as a 17-year-old and playing women's football for the first time, to winning the Player's Player Award last season, it has been a pleasure.

"I want to thank everyone involved with the club, there is far too many for me to thank individually but I appreciate everyone who has been a part of my journey.

"To my teammates, thankyou for supporting me over the years and dealing with my yelling.

"To the fans, thank you for your support, it really keeps us going and it was an honour to play in front of you."

A spokesperson from Bridgwater United Women has said: "Everyone at Bridgwater United would like to say a huge thank you to Beth Howard for all her valued commitment over the years she has been at the club.

"All the best in the next stage of your career Bethany-May Howard."

Looking forward, Howard said: "I am most looking forward to being at this club (Southampton), training in these facilities at St Mary's and playing in front of these crowds.

"Just the whole experience is great, being able to live that life that you wanted as a kid really, I am just taking every moment."
