A NEW McDonald's store in Bridgwater has opened its doors to customers.

The drive-thru and restaurant is located on Bristol Road, near the Dunball roundabout and junction 23 of the M5.

It opened on Wednesday, November 30, and its owner and staff members are eager to greet new customers at the two-storey building.

Franchise owner Tim Lamb said: “Me, Kat the restaurant manager and the restaurant team are really excited to have opened a brand-new McDonald’s restaurant in Bridgwater and we look forward to seeing our customers, old and new, enjoy the services we have to offer.”

Mr Lamb previously told the Mercury“I’m delighted to be investing in the town and local community, and I look forward to welcoming customers into the restaurant in a few weeks.”

The new McDonald's outlet offers customers electric car charging bays, free WiFi and mobile ordering. It will be open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

The fast food giant won planning permission for the new restaurant in 2018.

Before it opened, it was estimated the site will create at least 65 jobs, with many roles advertised on Indeed, a website for job listings.

There is another McDonald's store at Gallagher Retail Park near the town centre. The retail park also contains Taco Bell, Subway and Costa Coffee stores.

McDonald's is also planning to open a new store at Oak Tree Business Park in Highbridge, which the company believes would create around 120 jobs.

Currently, the nearest McDonald's to Burnham-on-Sea & Highbridge can be found in Bridgwater or at Sedgemoor Services on the M5.
