A NEWLY refurbished Somerset veterinary practice is offering pet owners the chance to go behind the scenes and take a look at its upgraded facilities.

Quantock Veterinary Hospital’s Nether Stowey surgery is holding an open morning on Saturday, December 3.

The practice in Castle Street is set to reopen to patients on the following Monday (December 5) after its £40,000 makeover.

The open morning runs from 11am to 1pm and will begin with a ribbon-cutting ceremony before visitors are welcomed through the doors.

Visitors will be able to tour the building, see the new facilities and meet members of the practice’s veterinary team. There will be refreshments and goody bags.

The surgery's interior space has been remodelled to create new facilities to ensure the team offers the highest levels of care and the best experience for pet owners.

The practice now benefits from an operating theatre for minor procedures, as well as kennels for feline and canine patients who need to spend the day at the practice.

The investment was made by VetPartners, the larger veterinary group Quantock Veterinary Hospital belongs to.

Thanks to the new facilities and having a vet and nurse on site, the team will be offering more appointments to pet owners.

It will be open on weekdays from 8.30am to 10am and 2.30pm to 5pm.

The practice’s clinical director, Dr Louise Ash, said: “We are very excited to welcome the local community through the doors and show them all the amazing improvements that have been introduced.

“The practice is much lighter, brighter and more modern, and our new theatre means we can offer a range of minor procedures including neutering and soft tissue surgery.

“We’re proud to offer a local service to pet owners in and around Nether Stowey and by upgrading the practice and expanding our services, we can meet more of their pets’ healthcare needs so they don’t have to travel out of the area.

“If they do need further treatment or additional diagnostic tests, we can provide this at our veterinary hospital in Bridgwater, which also provides our emergency cover as it is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.”
