AFTER Bridgwater United's impressive win away from home at the weekend, manager Dave Pearse shared his thoughts on the match and the season so far.

"I am more than delighted with my team here, we started the game really well and unfortunately we were shown a red card. No arguments there either.

"But after that, we showed some serious experience and quality game management. We got a goal straight after and that gave us something to build on."

He added that his side showed class in the match and have been making a habit of this throughout the season.

"The players were on another level today, their work rate and their quality shone through. Yes that is what we expect from them but today they went above and beyond.

"We had to change things up after the red and go into a four-four-one but we did that so we were hard to break down."

He said: "It is a massive three points for us, to take six points off Barnstaple in the league is very impressive and I am happy with that.

"The main thing today was getting a reaction from Tuesday's defeat and the boys delivered today."

Bridgwater United also welcomed two new players to the side, Jack Thorne and Sam Towler.

"Jack Thorne up front showed energy and hunger today, he could have had a couple more goals today I think.

"And Sam Towler is exactly what we thought he would be, work rate and experience. He was brilliant today, they both were and we are delighted with that."

In terms of injuries, Tom Lewellyn and George King both picked up knocks.

"Tom has had a groin problem and King has a hamstring issue. But we are lucky now as we have a break, we will probably only train once a week for now.

"We will focus on rest and recovery for now, we have played a lot of games recently and hopefully we will have everyone back fit for the FA Trophy match."

That FA Trophy match is scheduled for Saturday, December 3 at Fairfax Park against Cribbs First.
