CATCOTT Village Association (CVA) held its first autumn dinner dance since the pandemic in the village hall on Saturday (October 15).

Karl Hudson, from Weston-super-Mare's Milton Larder, provided a three-course meal for the 50 guests, who also enjoyed music and a raffle.

The after-dinner entertainment included two sets by the Dorset band Macintyre, including covers of songs by Stevie Wonder, Tina Turner, Fleetwood Mac and Steely Dan.

Linda, the winner of a spinning wheel game, generously donated her earnings to the CVA.

Further funds were raised through the raffle and a silent auction.

CVA press officer Dave Parkes said: "Many thanks to those who donated the excellent prizes."

"Ian and Anna received some thank you gifts from the rest of the CVA committee as they had done so much to organise the evening from calling on their family, friends and contacts to supply the band, the chef, waiting and bar staff, to organising the wonderful lantern decorations above the dance floor and the lovely table decorations."

The CVA committee members were involved in setting up and clearing away afterwards.

Mr Parkes added: "We are so lucky to have such volunteers willing to make these events happen and we are always looking for new people willing to lend a hand.

"We would really like to see more of the younger people taking part so that we can ensure the CVA and the village hall continue to support the local community and we can enjoy such lovely evenings for many years to come."
