BUSINESSES shared ideas and learnt from experts about becoming net zero at a networking evening at Bridgwater United FC.

The networking evening was hosted by Bridgwater Chamber of Commerce at Fairfax Park on Tuesday, September 27.

Guests heard from a consultancy firm, Balanced Energy, about how businesses can work towards net zero and the future risks to businesses of doing nothing.

The event also allowed businesses to share examples of the steps they have taken and the work they have in motion to reduce their carbon footprints.

Ashley and Harry from Balanced Energy said: “We support businesses in and around Bridgwater on their net zero journey.

“Government legislation requires businesses to take steps to reduce their carbon footprint and it can be challenging for many businesses to know where to start.”

Diogo Rodrigues, Bridgwater Chamber manager, said: “We’re working with Balanced Energy and others on the development of a Low Carbon Initiative that will attract employers across Sedgemoor to engage with Carbon reduction planning.

“Some business will look at this and think, ‘where do I even start?’. We want to support them.

“This will enable employers in Sedgemoor to further enhance the area’s world leading status within the sustainable energy and carbon reduction sector, by easily engaging with the initiative.

“The aim is to identify and encourage employers to engage in the programme and support their individual carbon management.”
