SWASHBUCKLING primary school pupils from around the area spent the day at the Gifted and Talented workshop held at Haygrove School's design and technology department on Wednesday (March 12).
The pirate-themed day saw pupils build a model pirate ship, complete with treasure chest, and then sailed to Pirate Island in search of treasure.
Haygrove's ICT department gave pupils the opportunity of using their equipment to find out more about the history of pirates.
Year 11 shipmates Ross Brown, Matt White, Ian Newbury, Andrew Butcher, Scott Hobbs, Jade Chidgey and Lee Wakeling assisted organiser Mr Page-Symonds.
Mr Page-Symonds said: "The day was intensive but enjoyable. The pupils used a wide range of skills and were delighted with the finished product.
"It was pleasing to see our year 11 pupils helping the young visitors."
