THE Somerset Wildlife Trust has launched an emergency appeal to buy Catcott Meadow on the Somerset Levels.
The 12-acre meadow lies between Catcott Heath and the Catcott North Nature Reserves and is home to an array of wildlife including dragonflies, beetles, lapwings and barn owls.
It is also an important part in feeding water to the land protected by the Trust.
The Trust need to raise £25,000 before the land goes to auction on Tuesday, March 18.
Trust spokesman Alyson Stoodley said: "We have asked our members to dig deep and help us with this important purchase.
"As we have such a limited time to get the money, we would like to ask people who may not be members of the trust to support us too."
She added: "If we don't by this land we will not be able to safeguard it and guarantee its future."
