GREEN-fingered Brownies took to the River Parrett on Saturday (March 8) to plant trees in commemoration of the 100-year anniversary of scouting and girl guides.
A dozen eager Combwich Brownies, along with Brown Owl Liz Brown, unit helper Rosie Keene and members of the Combwich Parish Council, planted 30 trees donated by the Woodland Trust to celebrate the landmark.
The Woodland Trust has been encouraging groups to plant more trees to contribute to and conserve the nation's natural environment.
Rosie Keene, a unit helper with the Combwich Brownies, said: "Everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves and learned a considerable amount on the environment.
"All the Brownies were very eager with their trowels. They received guidance in how to dig holes and protect the trees by a council contractor.
"The day was also an incentive for the Brownies to gain their seasons badge and some are now going on to earn their gardeners badge.
"Hopefully, as the years progress, the Brownies who took part will follow along the same stretch of the River and see the trees they planted in all their glory."
