A DEVOTED Bridgwater couple will be celebrating their golden wedding anniversary today (Saturday, March 15).
Ken and Audrey Cartwright married in the King Street Methodist Church in 1958.
Audrey moved to Bridgwater from London just after the outbreak of World War Two in 1939.
She met Ken over 50 years ago whilst working as a counter clerk in the bus office on Cornhill. Ken was working as a bus conductor and then later a driver.
They currently reside in Heathcombe Road and have three children, Anne, Peter and Andrew.
Speaking of the upcoming landmark, Audrey said: "We are having a get together at the family home and all the children are expected to be there."
"I'd say the secret to a long and happy marriage is to give and take."
When asked if she was as happy now as she was 50 years ago, Audrey replied: "Most definitely. We are both very happy and looking forward to Saturday."
