A DEVOTED young father who died last week in a motorcycle accident in Bridgwater has been described as "a wonderful, wonderful boyfriend".

Damian Martin Motuel, 22, injured his neck after coming off his motorbike in Salmon Parade on Wednesday, March 5.

Emergency services took him to Musgrove Park Hospital after his collision with a lamppost, but he died that afternoon.

In the aftermath of the tragedy, those closest to Damian told the Mercury of their shock at losing a devoted father, son, fiancé and friend.

His family paid tribute to the former Blake School and Bridgwater College student as a positive person, and spoke of his happy nature, which naturally drew people to him.

His parents - Martin and Wendy - said: "He is our number one son.

"Damian never had a bad word to say about anybody and never held a grudge - he did not like bad feelings and was a very happy person.

"He had a lot of friends, but his true friends know who they are."

He and his sister Amy had a really strong bond, and he was a "very special godfather" to his niece Kolby and friend's son Ryan.

Growing up, Damian had always been energetic, and was into skating and roller blading from a young age and loved motorbikes.

Due to marry in August 2009, he and his 21-year-old fiancée, Nicole Hines, already had a 14-month-old son called Jaden and were expecting another baby.

Nicole, three months pregnant, said: "He was a stud, the best looking boy in school and everyone wanted to be with him.

"He was a wonderful, wonderful boyfriend - everything he had, he gave and he had a great sense of humour."

In a touching tribute to him, Nicole said: "To my darling Damian, I've been lost since you went to work last Wednesday, Jaden is still waiting for you to come home he keeps calling for you.

"I promise to love and cherish our unborn child, this is your chance to keep us safe, you're our guardian angel now.

"You died loving me with all your heart, and I will do the same, I will always love you, I'll never let go, you will always be the biggest part of me.

"I love you babe, wait for me. Forever yours, your fiancée Nicole and son Jaden."

Police have issued an appeal for witnesses and anyone with information is asked to contact the collision investigation unit on 0845-4567000.

The funeral service takes place on Monday, March 17, at noon at Taunton Deane Crematorium.
