MORE than 800 people stepped onto Rodway Farm for the first Lambing Sunday at Bridgwater College's Cannington Centre on Sunday, March 10.

Families enjoyed seeing newborn lambs and were lucky to witness the arrival of twins in the afternoon.

The week-old piglets proved to be a delight with both children and grown ups, and the young calves drew the attention of all ages.

A steady flow of tractor and trailer rides provided visitors with a tour of the farm and its land, while hot dogs and jacket potatoes kept people warm through the day.

Jane Wagner, organiser and commercial manager, said: "The feedback from the general public has been wonderful and we're thrilled the day has been such a success.

"We'll certainly be hosting another Lambing Sunday next year, when our new state-of-the-art milking parlour will be open and guests will be able to see the cows being milked from the specially built viewing gallery."

The centre is now getting ready for its annual Wisteria Festival on the weekend of May 10 and 11, and also looking forward to the return of the annual open day on May 10, when all of the facilities will be open for the public to see.
