FEBRUARY walks programme for the Sedgemoor Ramblers got off to a good start with a charity walk along the MacMillan Way West, part 16 to Wootton Courtney and Dunkery Beacon, which was enjoyed by all, despite everyone having a battle against very strong winds.

Other walks this month have included Langford Budville and Langford Heathfield and the Quantock Combes. The weather for the five-mile Saturday walk, starting at Fyne Court, turned out to be warm and sunny and it was a delight to see the valley carpeted with snowdrops.

The group enjoyed a trip to London at the beginning of February to see Dirty Dancing with an overnight stay. This gave them plenty of time to enjoy a very interesting walk along the Thames Pat the next morning, with time left for shopping and sightseeing before catching the bus back home.

The summer walk's programme is now being planned and there are still some interesting walks to look forward to in March. These include walking on Exmoor and around Wiveliscombe, Minehead and Luxborough. Also a linear walk has been arranged to take the ramblers from Taunton back to Bridgwater along the Bridgwater and Taunton Canal.

Sedgemoor Ramblers is a group within the Ramblers Association and new walkers are welcome. Further information and a copy of the current walks programme can be obtained from Nicky on 01278 684676.
