FRIDAY March 7 women from many denominations gathered at the Salvation Army to attend the Women's World Day of Prayer service, linking with women in 180 countries around the world.

Chairman, Major Jennie McCombe, warmly welcomed the Mayor and Mayoress, Cllr and Mrs Phillip Smeed, the Chairman of Sedgemoor District council, Cllr Denis Davey and his wife Janet and vice-chairman, Cllr Jane Moreton, to the afternoon service, which had been prepared by the women of Guyana on the theme, God's Wisdom provides new understanding.

The speaker for the afternoon was Col Ann Harding and in the evening the Rev Chris Baillie. After the services, the congregations were able to share fellowship and enjoy the refreshments provided.
