WEMBDON'S annual Village Day returned with its full offering of events after two years with reduced schedules due to Covid.

The Village Day was held at St George's Parish Centre, the church, Wembdon Common, and the playing field and village hall on Monday, August 29.

Attendees enjoyed the ‘Sedgepaw’ dog show organised by Cancer Research UK, a flower and craft show, a car boot sale, and a performance from Burtle Silver Band.

Children made the most of a bouncy castle and slide and other activities and races.

There was also a classic car display, a craft fayre, a raffle, a barbecue, and a bar.

Before the event took place, a spokesperson said: “Like many annual events, the Village Day was badly hit by Covid.

“Two years ago, it was just possible to hold the craft fayre (with many precautions), and the beautiful weather allowed many family picnics to take place on the Green.

“Last year, Wembdon Community Association was able to stage many of the attractions, thus raising funds for other activities in the village, but were unable to hold the flower show. It was still a great day out.”
