Essex's poshest village has been named as Ramsden Bellhouse takes the crown for the region.

It comes as more and more families swap the busy everyday hustle and bustle of city life for a more calm, collected and fresh air atmosphere of the countryside. 

Estate agents Savills saw a 60 per cent rise in demand for rental homes in the most desirable countryside locations across the UK with people opting to rent in the country while waiting for a property to become available in their chosen area.

The news comes as The Telegraph shares research from Savills on the most desirable villages in each county.

The research is based on a mix of the highest house prices, best lifestyle amenities, connectivity and even chocolate-box appeal. 

And now Essex's own, have been named among the poshest places to live in UK, beating a host of local competitors in doing so, thanks to its wealth of appeal and welcoming locals.

Ramsden Bellhouse is a pricey slice of countryside life with homes averaging at £1,017,0722 due to is large plots of land and proximity to London. 

But it also has a lot to offer, with its popular pub, the Fox & Hounds and really good links to the nearby grammar school. 

Plus the village has a strong community and a traditional countryside atmosphere, with a local store, post office and village hall.
