The summer holidays are coming to an end, and if you’re wanting to make the most of your time with the little ones before they’re back at school, how about a day out to one of Glasgow’s many attractions?
In a city so big with so many events, it can be easy to miss some of the activities that are right on our doorstep.

Glasgow attractions to visit before the schools go back
Kelvingrove Art Gallery
This may be a given, but there’s a reason Kelvingrove Art Gallery is the top-rated attraction in Glasgow. And it’s free! Enjoy walking around the state-of-the-art gallery before having a gander around the West End.
Riverside Museum of Transport and Travel
The Riverside Museum has over 3,000 objects on display with everything from skateboards to locomotives, paintings to prams and cars to a Stormtrooper, a perfect family day out! Entry is free and there’s no need to book.
The Necropolis
An East End gem, why not make the most of the forecasted nice weather and take a walk up the Necropolis?
The views stretch all over the city, including down to the beautiful Glasgow Cathedral which you can visit free of charge.
Botanic Gardens
Over in the West End, the Botanic Gardens are a great excuse for a wander. See all the tropical plants in Kibble Palace and the gorgeous flowers all around the grounds.
Glasgow Science Centre
The science centre is a great day out for the family. There are three floors packed with hundreds of interactive exhibits and experiences for everyone to enjoy.
Tickets start at £10.50 for kids aged 3-15 and £12.50 for ages 16-59. Over 60s, students and unemployed can also enter for £10.50.
Pollok country park
If you feel like enjoying a long, country walk without actually having to leave Glasgow… Pollok country park is the place to go.
You can enjoy hours of fun walking the trails and paths and watching the wildlife.
The Mackintosh House at The Hunterian
The Hunterian Museum holds an amazing collection of the work of Scottish architect, artist and designer Charles Rennie Mackintosh and his wife, the artist Margaret Macdonald Mackintosh.
The museum is in Glasgow University and entry for the Hunterian is free, however, the Mackintosh House exhibition costs £8/£6 concession.
Young people and children under 18 get free admission.
