DEVON and Somerset Fire Service have rescued a cow that was stuck in the mud on the River Parrett this morning (Saturday, July 9).
The cow was stuck in a section of the river near Wembdon, Bridgwater.
Specialist equipment was required to rescue the cow from the position it was stuck in but it was released back on to dry land.
As well as that an animal rescue tactical advisor was on scene to help.
In a statement, a spokesperson from the Devon and Somerset Fire Service said: "Fire Control received a call to a cow stuck in mud on the River Parrett near Wembdon, Bridgwater.
"An Animal Rescue Tactical Advisor attended the location and requested the attendance of one pump appliance and the specialist rescue team from Bridgwater.
"Fire crews rescued one cow from the river bank using specialist rescue equipment and released it back onto dry land."
