MEMBERS of the 1st Burnham-on-Sea Squirrels Scout Group enjoyed a fun day at the Huish Woods Scout Campsite at the weekend.

The Scout Association launched its Squirrels provision in September for four and five-year-old children in “communities hardest hit by the pandemic”.

The 1st Burnham Scouts also run a Beavers group (six to eight), Cubs (eight to ten-and-a-half), and Scouts (up to 14).

The County Squirrel Scout Fun Day at the campsite, located at West Hatch near Taunton, had seperate zones for craft, woodland, and games.

Squirrels were able to attend for £8.50 each and were asked to wear their full uniforms, while parents and carers were invited to attend for a cost of £2.50.

Tea and coffee was provided at a small cost throughout the day by some of the county's Scouts, who were raising money for their Jamboree trip to South Korea.

Other Squirrels groups in attendance included Burnham-on-Sea, Wilton, Somerton, and Bishops Lydeard.
