FIVE people from Bridgwater have been fined and handed penalty points by Bath Magistrates’ Court after committing driving offences on local roads.

Three of the drivers pleaded guilty under the single justice procedure and two of them were proved guilty under the procedure.

The single justice procedure removes the need for the prosecutor and the defendant to go to court for a hearing and allows defendants to manage their cases in writing.

They received court bills ranging from £197 to £816 and between three and six penalty points.
