FOUR drivers from Sedgemoor were sentenced at Bath Magistrates’ Court last Thursday for breaking the speed limit on roads in Somerset.
All four drivers were given fines ranging from £150 to £550, and they all had six penalty points added to their driving licences.
They were sentenced by magistrates in Bath on Thursday, March 17 after pleading guilty under the single justice procedure.
The single justice procedure allows cases to be dealt with by a single magistrate based on papers alone without the defendant or prosecutor having to attend court for a hearing.
Daniel Peter Darrell
Daniel Peter Darrell, of Davies Close, Bridgwater, was clocked driving at 78mph on the A38 in Thurloxton – a road with a 50mph speed limit – on July 16, 2021.
Darrell, 27, was fined £550 and ordered to pay £90 in court costs and a £55 surcharge to fund victim services.
He has until April 28 to pay his £695 court bill.
Richard Anthony Ingram
A Bridgwater man has been fined £467 after he was recorded driving at 68mph on a road with a 40mph speed limit.
Richard Anthony Ingram, of Moorland Road, committed the offence in Brymore Way, Bridgwater, on July 12.
Ingram, 58, must also pay £90 in costs and a £46 surcharge, giving him a total balance of £603.
Jessica Ford
A woman from Axbridge has been ordered to pay £389 by magistrates after she was recorded driving at 55mph on a road with a 30mph speed limit.
Jessica Ford, of Orchard Road, was caught breaking the speed limit on the A371 (Castle Hill) in Banwell, North Somerset, on June 25.
Ford, 27, was fined £265.
She must also pay court costs of £90 and a £34 surcharge.
Georgia Lane Leader
A 22-year-old from Bridgwater has been fined and handed six penalty points after pleading guilty to driving at 88mph on the A38 in Thurloxton.
Georgia Lane Leader, of Bryer Close, exceeded the road's speed limit by 38mph on July 16.
Leader was fined £150 and told to pay £90 in costs and a £34 surcharge.
She has until April 28 to pay her £274 court bill.
