THE owner of a decorating business from Glastonbury is one of 12 new singletons taking part in ITV2 reality series The Cabins.

In the show, cast members are paired up to move into their own cabin together for 24 hours on the first day they meet, creating what ITV describes as “the most revealing first date of their lives”.

After spending a day in each other’s company, the pairs decide if they want to remain together or call it a day.

Bertie Garratt, 23, entered the show after being found on social media by its producers.

He has been single for around a year and entered the show to try and find someone to settle down with.

Bertie told the County Gazette: “They contacted me and asked me to go on the show.

“They found me on Instagram. Being quite a confident person, I went for it.”

If Bertie and his partner for the show click, they could remain in the series for more than one episode – but he kept his cards close to his chest ahead of tomorrow night's instalment.

Although he could not give too much away, he said enjoyed his experience on the show, adding: “It was a lot better than I was expecting”.

Bertie was motivated to take part in the reality show by its unusual concept, which sees participants spend a full day together on their first date.

“I don’t do dating apps, so moving in on the first date was pretty cool,” he said.

"It's a great opportunity to get myself out there.

“It’s good exposure as well, with it being on ITV2.”

The Cabins is narrated by comedian Maisie Adam, who has also appeared on panel shows QI, Have I Got News for You, and Mock the Week.

Last year’s series was filmed in Cumbria, but this year’s episodes will see the cast stay in one of three luxurious cabins in Wales: Otter’s Pocket, Beaver’s Burrow, and Stag’s Mount.

Series two of The Cabins began on Monday, January 3.

You can watch Bertie on ITV2 at 9pm tomorrow night (Thursday, January 20).

The first series of The Cabins and the first 14 episodes of series two are available to watch on ITV Hub.
