OAKE Manor Golf Club presented a cheque for £4658.15 to MIND in Somerset at their delayed Annual General Meeting and Prize Giving on Wednesday last week.

MIND is the Club captains charity and Richard Bryant was supported by Ladies captain Sally Jackson and seniors captain John Beer.

Alison Baker, the corporate partnership coordinator for MIND in Somerset was on hand to receive the cheque.

MIND is a charity which provides advice and support for people experiencing mental health problems.

Alison Baker thanked everyone for the generous donation and, on behalf of MIND, stated how grateful they were.

"As a result of the pandemic and lockdown the demand for their services in Somerset had more than doubled.

"Previously their telephone support was available 2-3 days a week for several hours, today that support is available 24 hours a day 7 days a week."

Also in Wellington the charity are currently running a weekly art group and going forward the donation will help them expand their services in Taunton and Wellington.

In competition last week Michael Bright scored 39 points to win the Wednesday Midweek Stableford Competition.

Chris Pratt came second also with 39 points and Mark Wooliscroft was third with 35 points.

Connor Woodhouse won the Sunday Stableford Competition scoring 35 points, Shaun Rigby came second with 34 points and Ben Zagorski was third with 33 points.

Howard Spear won division 1 of the Seniors Monday Stableford Competition scoring 36 points, Clive Davis was second with 35 points and Martin Rivers was third with 33 points.

Peter Brighton won division 2 with 37 points, the best score of the day, Dennis Marney came second with 34 points and Peter Merrington was third with 33 points.
