FIRE crews battled a blaze at a property in Bridgwater last night (Sunday) - which could have been deliberate.

Two crews from Bridgwater attended the incident, after reports of a building fire from members of the public.

On arrival, crews confirmed a garage, caravan outbuilding and a single-storey building were on fire.

Crews soon requested a further appliance for extra manpower to attend, said a spokesperson for the Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service.

"Fire control assigned a further fire engine from Nether Stowey to offer support to the crews in attendance," they said.

"Crews extinguished the fire using three jets, six breathing apparatus and one battery fan, utilising a local hydrant."

A caravan was completely destroyed by fire, the outbuilding and garage 80% destroyed by fire and the bungalow sustained 5% damage to external wall of the property.

Police have been requested as there is a possibility this was a deliberate fire, the spokesperson added.
