AN optician, who has worked across Boots in Taunton and Bristol, has taken on a new role at an independent practice in Bridgwater.

David Cutler, a contact lens optician, has joined Turners Visioncare.

Mr Cutler qualified as an opthalmic dispensing optician in 2014 and then worked for Boots, providing contact lens and emergency anterior eye care.

“Joining Turners has been both a privilege and a wonderful opportunity," said Mr Cutler.

"The staff and practice have an excellent reputation for clinical care and customer service which precedes them in the area.

"It's a pleasure to work alongside the established team.

"Contact lenses, are a comfortable and affordable option for the majority of spectacle wearers.

"I endeavour to offer a personal and tailored experience to anyone that wishes to try contact lenses at Turners.”

Mr Culter says he is keen to develop a service for myopia progression management (short sightedness).

Symptoms of myopia, which can develop during childhood, include squinting, eye strain, headaches and fatigue.

A contact lens optician can recommend a treatment plan to minimise the risk of high myopia later in life. Nearly five billion people are predicted to be affected by myopia by 2050, with a large number of them being children.
