A SOMERSET farmhouse - with outbuildings and set in around an acre - sold for a whopping £1.2 MILLION at auction.

The property, in Wedmore, was part of an auction by property firm Greenslade Taylor Hunt held in person for the first time since the pandemic put a halt to in-person proceedings.

Justin Lowe, auctioneer for GTH, was delighted to be back at the Batch Country House Hotel, Lympsham, near Weston-super-Mare, for the sale.

“It was wonderful to see a full auction room of clients and buyers again competing against our online buyers from all over the country," he said.

Highlights included the sale of the first lot, which comprised just under 11 acres of pasture land at Yeaps Drove, Godney, which eventually sold to an in room bidder at £98,000 despite considerable online interest.

Two lots of equestrian land and buildings were offered together and sold in the auction room at £210,000.

But the largest lot of the day was Lower Farm, Sand, Wedmore, which comprised a large five-bedroom traditional stone farmhouse requiring modernisation, with adjoining outbuildings set in approximately 1 acre in a rural setting.

“Online bidding was superseded by the auction room and the hammer fell at £1.2 million," Justin added.

“Overall the auction was a great success and buyers were generally delighted to be back in the auction room once again."

The next livestream auction will take place on Wednesday, October 27, at 3pm. Buyers are welcome in person or online.
