STREET Art, the biggest art movement since pop art, is the topic of the October talk from The Arts Society Sedgemoor (TASS).

Speaker Doug Gillen’s talk, entitled ‘Hidden Canvases’, is a beginner’s guide to this fascinating movement which expresses politics, emotions and every possible shade of opinion.

He will explore key stages in the growth of street art by looking at the various elements and styles which comprise ‘the scene with no rules’.

Doug is heavily involved in documenting the street art scene in London and abroad through his project Fifth Wall TV, and can offer a genuine insight into this world.

When not filming he is an East End tour guide for Alternative London, specialising in culture and art.

The illustrated talk will be held at the 37 Club, between Woolavington and Puriton, on October 6, with lecture hall doors open at 2pm for a 2.15pm start.

The 37 Club bar is open beforehand for drinks, although food is not yet available.

The Street Art talk forms part of TASS’s 2021 programme, which is funded by members’ subscriptions; non-members are welcome to join at a cost of £8
