BRIDGWATER Cricket Club has paid tribute to player, coach and committee member Josh Vickery after his sudden passing.

Mr Vickery, a long-serving player at the club, died at the end of last week prompting an outpouring of grief among the Somerset cricket community.

And in a statement shared on social media, the club said: "It is with huge regret that the club can confirm the sudden passing of our player, committee member and u11 coach/manager Josh Vickery.

"An excellent batsmen and outstanding fielder, Josh played WEPL cricket since the league’s inception and was incredibly popular amongst clubmembers and his peers.

"A fantastic son, husband, father and the ultimate friend and teammate, Josh will be massively missed by all at BCC.

"We thank our wider cricket family for all the kind words and messages of support, which have been nothing short of remarkable."

The club went on to say its focus now is solely on supporting Josh's family and club members at a difficult time.
