CREWS tackled a kitchen fire during the early hours of this morning (August 5).

Two fire engines, one from Taunton and one from Bridgwater, attended the incident in North Petherton just after midnight.

When they arrived, crews discovered there was a fire in a ground floor kitchen.

The cause of the fire was accidental.

"Two breathing apparatus were used along with a carbon dioxide extinguisher, one hose reel jet and one safety jet," said a spokesperson for Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service.

"A thermal image camera was also used to ensure there were no remaining hot spots.

"Crews were satisfied that the fire had not spread in the extraction unit.

"Additional equipment used not yet reported was a triple extension ladder and small tools."

There was 100% fire, heat and smoke damage to the kitchen.
