FOODIES didn't let the weather stop them from coming out in force at Bridgwater Food and Drink Festival today.

There were more than 60 food, drink and craft stalls, around several town centre locations, selling produce including street food, spirits and liqueurs, organic fruit and veg, breads and cakes, jams and preserves and scented candles.

The annual event couldn't take place last year due to the pandemic so it's been two years since visitors got to experience the culinary delights the free-to-attend festival has to offer.

"Just 24 hours before, it came within minutes of cancelling, but making the decision to run the festival.

"A great performance from the rock choir and the amazing Paul wheeler with punch and Judy was definitely the way to do it," Paul added.

"It was nice to see a constant flow of people coming to the festival area and many from outside the town.

"Feedback from a local shopkeeper was they also had a good day and that two or three events a year would be prefect for the town.

"We had joining us a few new businesses too, set up during the last two years, and was happy to hear from them all that they had a good day."

Festival organisers thanked a number of venues and organisations for their help over the last two years in bringing the event together.

These include, Bridgwater Town Team, Bridgwater Guy Fawkes Carnival, Bridgwater Town Council, St Mary's Church, Angel Place Shopping Centre, Buses of Somerset and Sedgemoor FM, along with the many local businesses who have helped make the event a success.
