THE Taunton home of Somerset cricket is being converted into "the biggest beer garden in the South West" this weekend.

Somerset County Cricket Club Beer and Cider Festival is being staged as part of a one-day game on Sunday (July 25).

There will be more than 40 local beers and 40 local ciders at the county town's first large-scale event since Freedom Day on Monday.

The event, being staged at the Cooper Associates County Ground for members and ticket holders as part of Somerset's Royal London Cup clash with Derbyshire, will also feature "special food options tailored to the fan village".

And there will be live music from local musicians Karl Ficarotta and Stevie Nicole Brown.
