MILLIONS around the world will be tuning in to Olympic action this weekend - and for the weeks ahead - as the Games in Japan get underway.

And Somerset will be no different.

And the county has a number of representatives at Tokyo 2020, in sports as varied as hockey, trampolining and BMX bike riding. 

Here are some of those taking part - and when you can see them in action live (all times are UK times, which is eight hours behind Tokyo):

Laura Gallagher, Bridgwater - trampoline

The trampoline qualifying and final all take place on the same day at the Ariake Gymnastics Centre.

When:

July 30 - 6am (qualifying)

6.50am (final)

Maddie Hinch, King's College Taunton - hockey

When:

Hockey matches get underway straight away, with a series of group games, before the women's final on August 6.

Brodie Williams, Street/Millfield - swimming

The 22-year-old Street native will take part in the 400m individual medley and the 200m backstroke races at the Tokyo Aquatics Centre.

July 24 - 400m individual medley (Heats) - from 11.02am

July 25 - 400m individual medley final - 2.30am

July 28 - 200m backstroke (heats) - from 11.25am

July 29 - 200m backstroke (semi finals) - from 3.04am

July 30 - 200m backstroke final - 2.50am.

Helen Glover, Millfield - rowing

The Truro-born rower is a two-time Olympic champion and takes part in the women's pairs with Polly Swann.

When:

July 24 (heats) - from 1.50am

July 29 (final) - 1.30am

Ollie Lindsay-Hague, Millfield - rugby sevens

Ollie captained Millfield before going on to make his rugby sevens debut for England at the age of 19.

When:

July 26: Team GB v Canada - 9.30am. Team GB v Japan - 8.30am.

July 27: Team GB v Fiji - 1.30am.

July 28: Semi finals - from 11am. Final - 10am.

Jazmin Sawyers, Millfield - long jump

The 27-year-old will take part in the long jump.
