A FORMER schoolfriend of the police officer who kidnapped, raped and murdered Sarah Everard has spoken about the porn-obsessed "weirdo".

Somerset man Warwick Lewis said there was a disturbing side to Wayne Couzens, whose crimes back in March have shocked the nation.

Couzens, 48, abducted Ms Everard, 33, as she was walking home along a street in Clapham, London.

He pleaded guilty to her murder at the Old Bailey yesterday (Friday).

Mr Lewis, a support worker for vulnerable adults in Middle Chinnock, was a classmate of Couzens at Castlemount School, Dover, in the 1980s.

"Wayne was not a nice kid," Mr Lewis told the Daily Mail.

"He was one of those children who had a completely different side to him.

"There was one occasion where we were at Wayne's, he was laughing and shouting off as he used to.

"He produced an airgun that was his dad's, an old Western-type revolver."

Couzens then shot another pupil in his privates with a BB gun and thought it amusing when the victim screamed and burst into tears.

Mr Lewis added: "He (Couzens) was a strange one at school. He didn't have many friends. He was an oddball."

On another occasion, Mr Lewis saw Couzens sneak back into school after hours to shoot out "all the windows".

"The thing about all this was when I saw the news and I read the name, I knew it was him," said Mr Lewis, referring to the killing of Ms Everard.

"It did not even surprise me. I was not shocked that he did this."

He added: "The fact I was not shocked looking back on it is pretty hideous."

Couzens, who will be sentenced on September 29, was told by the judge that he could spend the rest of his life in jail.
