WE'VE all heard of a 'face like thunder' - but one eagle-eyed reader has snapped a face IN the thunder today in Somerset.

The face in the clouds was spotted by a reader in the skies over Westonzoyland this afternoon (July 3) as heavy rain and thunder hit the county.

"It was actually my little girl who spotted this face  in the clouds," said the reader, who sent the picture in but did not want to be named.

"I looked up at it and thought, 'Yes, actually, I can see a face, with eyes, a nose, and maybe even a moustache!'"

Can you spot the face of thunder?

Meanwhile, a yellow weather warning for heavy rain remains in place for Somerset until 9pm this evening, although the Met Office says the downpours will continue through the night.

The Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service said it had responded to a number of calls reporting flooding across the county, including in North Petherton, Norton Fitzwarren, Cheddon Fitzpaine, Taunton and Bridgwater

"There have been numerous fire appliances and officers sent to a number of locations to assist residents where we can," said a spokesperson.

"The rain has subsided for the time being but there is believed to be some more arriving later this evening and in the early hours."

A forecaster said: "Overnight, a more organised band of heavy showers will move in from the south west, possibly becoming thundery or containing hail."

On Sunday, things will start out cloudy, with showery rain through the morning, with a mix of scattered showers and sunny spells as the day progresses, with temperatures reaching around 21C.
