A FIRE has destroyed a property in Street.
Fire engines from Street, Glastonbury and Somerton were sent to the blaze on Stoke Road around 11.15am today (June 15).
The property was 'well alight' when they arrived and so two more fire engines from Wells and Shepton Mallet were called to the to the incident.
An incident command unit from Martock and a command support unit from Wiveliscombe also attended.
It took more than two hours to extinguish the blaze, which began in the bedroom of the property.
"There was 70 per cent fire damage to the first floor, 100 per cent smoke damage and water damage to ground floor and throughout the building," said a spokesperson for Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue.
"The fire was extinguished using four breathing apparatus, and two hose reel jets.
"The cause of the fire was accidental."
