A WOMAN from Somerset set herself the challenge of drawing 100 animals badly to raise money for charity.

From April 30 until May 3, Kate Barrington, from Spaxton, drew 124 animals for Age UK Somerset.

She took part in the Captain Tom 100 Challenge, which encouraged people in the UK and around the world raise money for the Captain Tom Foundation or a charity of their choice.

Ms Barrington, who is the communications and volunteering manager for Age UK Somerset, managed to raise more than £500 for the charity.

She took requests from people who sponsored her and she managed to draw many animals, anything from an Aardvark to a Zebu.

“I am not very good at drawing and the challenge took three days, a lot longer than I thought it would," she said.

"But I am so grateful to everyone who supported me in doing this and I’m delighted to have raised so much money for this worthy cause.

"Some people have pointed out that a few of the drawings are not that bad.

"If this is the case that is merely a fluke (although I’m actually quite proud of my Axolotl!).”
