A PRIMARY school near Bridgwater had a makeover this month.

Laura Blackmore, who is launching her own interiors business, painted, decorated and styled a parent and family liaison room and a sensory area at Westonzoyland Community Primary School.

She worked with The Rotary Somerset Community Volunteer Trust, who donated funds to buy soft furnishings and specialist sensory lights.

Headteacher of Westonzoyland Community Primary School, Alison Garbett, said she was “thrilled” with the outcome.

“The rooms look so different now, and all the children (and adults) who have used the spaces have loved them,” she said.

“Not only did the money enable Laura’s amazing work to refurbish the rooms, but also funded a light table and other sensory materials for children to use in the spaces.

“A big thank you to everyone involved in the project – it will be a treasured area for many children for years to come.”

Laura is soon to launch a business ‘Creative Eye – Early Years Environments’ working with schools and early years setting to provide interior makeovers.
