A PHOTOGRAPHY competition starring a popular Somerset beauty spot launched last Thursday (April 22).

The Quantock Landscape Partnership Scheme (QLPS) launched a new photography competition, with winners receiving outdoor gear e-vouchers.

The competition is part of 23 projects the QLPS is delivering over the next five years in and around the Quantock Hills.

The aim is to encourage people to think differently about the hills and the surrounding area.

QLPS manager, Bill Jenman, said: “As more normal life returns to the Quantocks, and people get out and about more over the coming year, I’m looking forward to seeing some images that really capture the essence of the people and communities that make this area so very special.”

There are three categories you can enter:

  • Village Life Entries will be taken within a village or settlement in the Quantock Hills AONB and surrounding LPS area.
  • People of the Quantocks

Entries will be an image representing the people of the Quantock Hills AONB and surrounding LPS area.

  • Quantock Working

Entries will be an image of working life within the Quantock Hills AONB and surrounding LPS area.

The competition will run until March 31 2022, with photographs judged in April and winners announced in May.

The winner will receive an £100 e-voucher, with second place received a £50 voucher. There will also be a £50 e-voucher for the best picture submitted by a young person, age 16 or under.

Photos should be sent to qlps@somerset.gov.uk along with a completed entry form which is available to download from www.qlps.org/downloads.

Entrants must have received permission from any recognisable people in an image (or that of parent or guardian if a minor) for it to be entered into the competition.
