THE Covid infection rate in Somerset is well below the England average, according to Public Health England figures.
The rates in the four districts in figures released yesterday (Saturday) are:
South Somerset - 17.2 cases per 100,000 of population (down from 17.8 the previous day).
Somerset West and Taunton - 11.6 cases per 100,000 of population (12.2).
Sedgemoor - 17 cases per 100,000 (19.5).
Mendip - 20.8 cases per 100,000 (19).
The rates are based on the latest seven-day rolling figures.
The rate across the whole of England is 29 cases per 100,000 people.
The latest 24-hour figures show there were four new confirmed cases in South Somerset; one in SWT; seven in Sedgemoor; and two in Mendip.
