WITH non-essential shops and pubs re-opening today, those of us looking for something non-retail to do will be browsing for attractions that are also welcoming visitors back.

Below is a round-up of what's re-opening - and what's not - in Somerset...

NOAH'S ARK ZOO FARM

The Wraxhall zoo attraction re-opens today (April 12), admitting groups of up to six as per government guidelines. Visitors will also be required to scan in to the NHS test and trace system.

Indoor areas will not be open.

PUXTON PARK

The zoo-adventure centre, off junction 21 of the M5, attraction IS re-opening today (April 12). More details and pre-booked tickets are available at www.puxton.co.uk.

Again, indoor areas will not be open.

TROPIQUARIA

The Washford Cross zoo is NOT re-opening today.

The venue is instead planning to welcome visitors back from May, due to the high number of indoor attractions which cannot re-open.

A spokesperson said: "This isn't an easy choice for us but one made on the basis of the regulations and protecting our staff, visitors and animals."

HESTERCOMBE HOUSE & GARDENS

The gardens are open, but the house is not. For more information, see hestercombe.com

WEST SOMERSET RAILWAY

The railway's shops at both Minehead and Bishops Lydeard will re-open today (April 12), opening between 10am and 3pm.

However, there will be no trains running, with journeys planned to start again on May 22.

BREAN PLAY

The soft play centre is NOT re-opening this week. It is planned to re-open on May 17 in line with the government roadmap.

NATIONAL TRUST PROPERTIES

From Lytes Cary to Montacute House, the outdoor areas of National Trust properties ARE open. Visitors are strongly urged to book ahead. See nationaltrust.org.uk for details.
