BRIDGWATER youngster April Stockham has ‘braved the shave’ and raised more than £600 for cancer charity Macmillan Cancer Support.

The 12-year-old decided to fundraise in memory of her grandfather, who passed away suddenly in February 2016 after he was diagnosed with cancer.

This is the second time that April has reached for the clippers for charity, having previously decided to shave her head for Macmillan when she was just seven years old!

In total, she has raised a total of just under £2,000 for people living with cancer.

April said: “We miss Grandad so much - there’s not a day that goes by that we don’t talk about him or want to ask him something, as he always had great advice.

"I’m sure cancer has touched so many people reading this - it is such an terrible disease.

"I wanted to do something to remember my Grandad and raise money to help other people affected by cancer, so that they have the support from Macmillan when they need it.”

April’s mum Amanda said: “We’re so, so proud of this amazing young lady.

"She is an inspiration, braving the shave to raise money to help people with cancer.

"She also donated her hair to the Little Princess Trust, who make wigs for children and young people who have lost their hair due to cancer.”
